I'll admit it...I'm a product junkie. And a hoarder. Only when it comes to hair stuff. You can look under my bathroom cabinet right now and see dozens of conditioner bottles and so on from months ago. I'm working on clearing it all out. It's just every time I go for an 'empty' bottle a good amount always seems to still be hiding in there, somewhere. So anyways, I thought to myself really which ones do I use on a consistent basis, if I could cut it down to maybe my top 5? And that's when I figured I'd share on here :)
1. CLEANSING
I usually only cleanse once a week, maybe twice at the most. It took me a while to figure out what works best on my hair. And for quite some time now, the 'As I Am' coconut cowash is apparently my hair's favorite. It doesn't have all those harsh ingredients that most shampoos have, which I love. Once I apply it in my hair, its amazingly so easy to comb out in the shower. (with the help of a wide tooth comb of course).
2. CONDITION
After cleansing, I usually use the Renewing Argan Oil Conditioner (not pictured). I always leave a good amount of it in my hair, as a leave in. It really is nourishing and helps fight my stubborn hair's frizziness. But lately instead I've been using the 'Miss Jessie's Creme De La Creme' and I love it as well! The key is finding products that work best for your hair. But if yours has any similarities to mine, then I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Also, sometimes when I do decide to add some heat on my hair (which isn't often ) I enjoy using the 'Moroccan Smooth Perfection'.
3. LEAVE IN
Ok, so I just mentioned I always leave in a little bit of conditioner in my hair. Since my hair is extra thick, I need all the product I can get. I have to always be careful of course not to add in too much, which only results in my hair feeling 'heavy'. But with enough practice, you usually know how much to add in. My favorite for the last couple of months has been the Miss Jessie's Coily Custard and/or Multi Cultural Curls. It's bomb. A lot more expensive then the other hair products thats for sure. But depending on where you go, you'll find some for less. (The Walgreens near my house surprisingly sold them under $20). An alternate and less expensive brand (still works amazing) is the Shea Butter Coconut and Hibiscus Curl/Style Milk. (I've always gotten it for $6 at Walmart, unless the prices have slightly changed)
4.MISC
And that's pretty much it! I like keeping it simple most days and not adding too many things in my hair. Usually everyday I do have to wet my hair and comb it out daily since it is very crazy thick. BUT I always just add in some conditioner, and then throw in the after products for the final touch!
The products in the top pic are others I enjoy, for example the Jamaican Castor Oil and 'As I am' gel and butter cream. Those will last me like a year or longer, lol. I basically use those for touch ups or if I feel my hair needs a little boost, or some extra moisturizer is needed. Plus Castor Oil is great to use on eyelashes, eyebrows and hair for more growth :) Also, I'm starting to 'diffuse' more and yeah do see a difference in my volume when I do.But honestly most days I let it air dry.
More Pics!
And just one more pic. FYI: Um excuse my face here (don't judge, hahaa), my husband likes to take snaps when I'm not ready at all, lol! But really love how my hair is growing and starting to become more healthy! :)
