Find Your Perfect Breed♡

I'm so thrilled to share this post! But first, I just want to give a big special thanks to Rachel from PuppySpot !! I absolutely love what their about and how their changing lives for the better. Not only for puppies of all shapes and sizes, but also those seeking a new furry addition for their family + home. Thank you again for letting me share some thoughts on this topic and why it matters.
For every animal lover out there, I'm sure they all have plenty of reasons as to why they picked the pet they did. Maybe their spouse or kids just wanted a new friend to have around. Or maybe to add a bit of adventure in their lives. What ever the reason, there is always a good story behind it all.

Some people prefer cats, since their a bit more self sufficient, no cat walking needed. Others will say they just want a calm lap dog, since they like their peace and quiet at home. Some want a mix of playful and energetic, but know when its time to relax and cuddle up on the sofa. There is some sort of connection between all of those scenarios, right? People want their pets to fit in with their lifestyle. And that is major key. So many people just go out with the idea of wanting to get a new dog, because it's exciting of course. But really haven't put in enough time and thought on what really is the right fit? Not only for themselves, but for the puppy's overall well being and happiness as well. People later discover it wasn't the best match after all. Unfortunately, these situations happen everyday. And because it occurs so often, I think it's genius PuppySpot created this simple, yet fun questionnaire! The flow chart consists of questions, like how much training are you willing to put in, how often are you at home and other well thought out questions,we may not always ask ourselves.

I was excited to take this awesome 'Find your pefect Dog Breed' Quiz annnd let's just say it was very accurate! My final result was 'The Active Socialite'. My recommended breeds: Siberian husky, Labrador retriever, Irish Setter, or a Field Spaniel. Honestly, I wish I'd known about this sooner! Below you'll see the flow chart, so be sure to check it out and please feel free to share any thoughts:) Thank you again PuppySpot!!! Also, check out Puppies for Sale !

Quick back story on finding our Zara:
We knew we were looking for a puppy that was very loving, outgoing, and active (considering we have an extremely busy 6 year old!) We have always wanted a husky for sure. Our only concern was being in the south and knowing summers aren't always the most pleasing. So we thought ok, a husky is certainly out of the question. We were thinking we could adopt a jack Russell (since Dylan grew up with one) or maybe another short hair pup.On weekends when Elijah wasn't having any football games/school activities,we'd make it our mission to check out the local pet adoptions. So many cute/ sweet ones to choose from, and then some that weren't big fans of kids. So it was a bit challenging. We then decided to not rush, that whenever the right pup comes along, we'll just know. And that's exactly what happened the moment we met Zara. One of our neighbors had mentioned there was a breeder around the area, and that the Mom recently had some new husky puppies. We thought well, as much as we want one it probably won't work out. Bummer. But we decided to go for a quick visit anyways. I could go on and on, but basically we fell in love with her immediately. She was pretty little, but already had so much personality to her. (&Very shy at first). But knew we had to say yes. Elijah didn't even want to leave without her. So we talked to the breeder for some time, and learned so many things about huskies as well. Also that they can live in warmer weather, as long as their house dogs of course.Whew, that was a relief! We had to wait a few more weeks before bringing her home, but once we did it was the best birthday surprise for our lil man! A birthday he'll always remember for years to come! And now it feels like we have two wild kids running around the house, but she's truly the perfect family addition for us :)

XOXO
